Milestones

1945
Wilhelm Layher esthablishes the company in Gueglingen-Eibensbach
The origin of the family company is at the same time its future: The heart of the biggest manufacturer of system scaffolding beats in the State of Baden-Württemberg.

1951
Development od the german sales network begins
Opening of the first branches in Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg. Layher has a close-knit and worldwide network of national service centres. In Germany alone, there are today 31 service centres, close to wherever you are.

1957
The new materials of steel and aluminium widen production
Ladders and ladder scaffolding made of wood were among the first products to be made. The "tube express" scaffolding expanded production in 1957 using the new materials steel and aluminium. From this first generation of Rolling Towers grew Layher's proven Roller Tower family – with its typical bolt-free connection technology.

1965
With just six basic elements and a few manual operations, this classic Layher equipment will “quickly” provide a safe working surface for all work. The definitive insertion-frame system made of steel and aluminium has been undergoing continuous further development since its launch in 1965. Due to the weight reduction of 2.5 kg in 2001 even faster and increased safety in assembly.

1970
Internationalization begins
Foundation of the first subsidiary companies in the Netherlands, France and Switzerland. Layher now has subsidiaries in 45 countries on every continent – with a close-knit network of national service centres.

1974
Allround scaffolding - the ground-braking invention
With its bolt-free wedge-head connection technology and 8 connections on one level, Allround Scaffolding made of steel and aluminium has superseded conventional tube and coupler scaffolding. This original system offers an impressive variety of uses and has been continually improved since it was launched in 1974.
With new products such as the Allround Scaffolding STAR Frame in 2007 and the Allround Scaffolding Bridging System in 2009, we have been creating additional applications and opening up new fields of business for our customers. In 2013, we set a new milestone in scaffolding construction with the fourth Allround Scaffolding generation – Lightweight.

1984
Weather protection roofs prevent site stoppages
Since its market launch in 1984, the cassette roof has offered optimum weather protection and environmental protection. The structure and the equipment remain well protected during conversion or repair, and normal operations can continue while sheltered by the roof. The Keder Roof presented in 1999 and the improved Keder Roof XL of 2011 provide persuasive, economical and complete solutions in lightweight design – with spans of up to 40 m, combinable with other systems. The weather protection roofs are used for new building work and renovation, for industry and the building trade.

1978
Stairway towers permit faster and safer ascents
Layher stairway towers were already supplementing SpeedyScaf and Allround in 1978. Today, with just a few basic components and well-designed additional parts, a construction kit for almost every conceivable application is available. From the platform stairway to stairway towers for public areas – with variable storey and exit heights and for differing widths and load capacities, for building contractors, industrial companies and event organizers.

1985
Stages, podiums and stands set off on a world tour
Based on the extremely sturdy and strong Layher Allround Scaffolding, Layher Event Systems were developed in 1985. With more than 30 years of experience in designing for events, the product range for stages, podiums and stands is being continually expanded with a flexible system technology and handy individual parts.

1998
The protect system is the system solution for enclosures
The Protect System has opened up a further field of business for our customers since 1998. Compatible with SpeedyScaf and Allround Scaffolding, the efficient system solution optimally caters for the stringent requirements of contemporary environmental protection, noise prevention, weather protection and pedestrian safety – in an economical yet visually attractive way.

2010
Shoring TG 60 - innovation at the site
Allround Scaffolding is a multi-talented system at the site: With just a few additional components, requirements at the site, such as for reinforcing scaffolding, stairway towers, bridging and site protection can be met safely, simply and speedily.
Together with Layher Allround Scaffolding, TG 60 shoring frames, first presented in 2010, create even more possibilities. The innovative assembly sequence and the integrated access aid make the assembly of a shoring tower safer than ever before.

2013
Layher Lightweight – the new dimension in scaffolding
Profitability and safety aren't contradictions at Layher. New materials, new production processes and design improvements make our systems lighter, faster, stronger – and so even more economical.

2016
Allround fw system - the structural beam for seamless integration
With just three additional components to Allround Scaffolding, there is now an even better and even more economical solution for bridging and bracing applications: the Allround FW System. Consisting of an Allround FW System post, a sturdy Allround FW System chord as the top and bottom chord, plus a length-adjustable Allround FW System diagonal rod, this new product can be quickly assembled with pin connections and is fully integrated into the Allround System.

2019
The new stell deck LW - a good product is now even better
This is exactly what's been achieved with the steel deck Lightweight. By using higher-tensile steel grades, a thinner material and an intelligent combination of profiles and material concentrations at structurally relevant areas, it has proved possible to reduce the weight of the steel deck, already established in the market, by up to 2.2 kg or 10 % – while retaining its high load-bearing capacity. That makes this steel deck lighter, handier and more effective.

2022
TwixBeam – the high-strength multifunctional aluminium twixbeam from layher
Consisting of two bolted aluminium U-sections with a height of 200 mm – has a wide range of possible uses, for wide-span work platforms, support beams, suspended scaffolding or projecting structures. The TwixBeam is available in lengths from 0.80 m to 6.60 m. The beam is characterised by high load-bearing capacity yet low weight.
